Traditional Childbirth Class

Classes are available for today’s couples packing all you need to know into 3, two-hour classes, to have a great birth experience and learn breastfeeding skills. Classes are arranged for your convenience with your instructor. This series is ideal, especially for those who have a difficult schedule or who are late in pregnancy.

About the Class

In the first two classes you will learn the techniques used to ease and speed labor including visualization, affirmations, positioning, massage, breathing techniques, hydrotherapy, and more. You will write a “Wish List” for labor and birth that is individualized to your needs and belief system. You will learn about medications, standard hospital policies and procedures and how to work within the system while still achieving your goals. We will discuss patient advocacy and informed consent. Our third class focuses on breastfeeding and first week baby care. If you are planning out-of-hospital birth, the classes will be tailored to the home or birth center setting.

Your instructor is Sharon Hamilton, a Licensed Midwife, Doula, Massage Therapist and Certified Lactation Counselor with over 40 years of experience, who has worked with thousands of couples to achieve healthy, happy births and babies. Sharon believes that each pregnancy, birth, baby, breastfeeding experience is unique and special. Her goal is to provide comprehensive, accurate information to parents to improve their knowledge and confidence during labor, birth and beyond facilitating an improved sense of comfort and happiness in parenting.
